Village Voice Launches “Happy Hour” Mobile App

The Village Voice, in an ongoing effort to get you, the good people of New York, completely and perpetually drunk, has debuted a “Happy Hours” app. Village Voice Media’s new application, available through iTunes, will provide happy hour listings in 30 cities including, of course, NYC. Other cities featured are Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Broward-Palm Beach, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Orange County, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington DC.

Village Voice Media Holdings president and COO Scott Tobias says the company developed the free app because, basically, they want to stalk your fine ass: “We want to be everywhere our readers are, and that’s out on the town, anywhere in the country. The Happy Hours app adds another dimension to the coverage and the advertiser relationships VVMH and these publications have established, one that taps into the content we have been publishing for years and that listens to what our merchants are saying about the best deals out there today. We own the night — and this app really delivers on that.”

Brand extension! All the rage! Perhaps an exclusive line of Village Voice futons is soon to come?
