Video: Rooted Nook Color Running Angry Birds, Kindle App, Screen Shot Utility

As I wrote earlier this week, I’m

Very Impressed by Rooted Nook Color

My rooted Nook Color owning friend was kind enough to sit down with me for a few minutes to record a video to let you see a few interesting things a rooted Color Nook can do including:

– Run Angry Birds for Android very nicely on a large display
– Run Amazon’s Kindle for Android app
– Perform these tasks in a very snappy way with no visible slowness

And, what is that to the left here? Why, that is a screenshot of the Nook Color. It seems that it has a built-in screenshot feature although Android smartphones cannot do this. It looks like the Nook Color is smarter than Android smartphones in that respect.

It is unlikely you will see Amazon’s Kindle app on the Nook Color when it receives the official Android OS 2.2 Froyo update sometime in 2011. But, it is interesting to see what a relatively inexpensive ($250 vs. the $600 Samsung Galaxy Tab) Android tablet (actually an ebook reader) can do. As I wrote earlier, I am extremely impressed by what I’ve seen so far.
