Verizon Wireless, AT&T on Par with US Open

Folks who subscribe to Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Mobile TV or AT&T Mobile TV won’t have to miss a minute of the US Open golf tournament – although they might have a bit of trouble following the path of the ball on the very small screen.

golf_jiu.jpgFierce Mobile Content reports that NBC Sports and ESPN have partnered with Qualcomm’s MediaFLO USA unit, which operates both the V CAST and AT&T Mobile TV services, to stream live coverage of the four-day event. ESPN and NBC Sports will split coverage of the first two rounds and NBC will broadcast all of the final two rounds.

It all adds up to 30 hours of golf, or more than enough to cause eye strain if you watch it all on your phone.

The US Open at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla starts on June 12.
