Verizon Customers Complain About Data Limits On Twitter

At the JPMorgan Technology, Media and Telecom conference held in Boston today, attendees learned that Verizon plans to do away with unlimited data plans.

And as word spreads through the Interwebs, folks are voicing their displeasure on Twitter.

This may seem a bit confusing as Verizon stopped selling unlimited data plans last summer (following AT&T’s lead, which stopped selling unlimited data plans in 2010), so how is this new?

CNN tells us that Fran Shammo, chief financial officer for Verizon Communications, made an announcement at the Telcom conference today that went a little something like this:

“As you come through an upgrade cycle and you upgrade in the future, you will have to go onto the data share plan,” Shammo said, “[We’re] moving away from, if you will, the unlimited world and moving everybody into a tiered structure data share-type plan.”
