USA Network Offers Prizes for Social Media Promotion

Psych071210.bmp USA Network is following in the footsteps of its broadcast network sibling, offering rewards and prizes for viewers that promote its content through social media.

The cable channel is launching what it calls “Character Rewards,” a loyalty system which will award users points for watching videos, tweeting or talking about USA programs on twitter or Facebook, and other actions.

“USA is gratified by our fans’ engagement,” said Alexandra Shapiro, senior vice president, brand strategy and digital, USA Network. “We developed Character Rewards as a way to give back to our loyal fans for their efforts in being brand ambassadors, while preserving the viral integrity of our online community.”

Points can be redeemed for show-branded merchandise (or Swag, as they call it in the biz), as well as other rewards like gift cards to major retailers, or virtual goods.
