Unemployment Rate Fell In December, ADP Says

Payroll company ADP has released its December 2010 National Employment Report, and according to the company’s numbers, payrolls climbed 297,000 in the month, an increase “well above what is usually associated with a declining unemployment rate.” And “strength was also evident within all major industries and every size business tracked in the ADP Report.”

That’s promising, as economists had predicted unemployment wouldn’t begin to trend down for ages, reaching 8 percent in 2013.

We’ll see who was right on Friday, when the labor department releases its numbers for December.
