Last week, Twitter unveiled the @earlybird service, a new service that gives people an easy way to find out about the best deals on Twitter. Within days the service got tens of thousands of Twitter users following the service and looking for deals. Well, the first deal is out, and it’s pretty sweet. If you’re a follower of @earlybird and live in the U.S., Walt Disney is going to get you two tickets for the price of one. I’m curious to see how much this boosts ticket sales for the movie. If it’s significant, count on Twitter and Walt Disney to let us know.
If you were curious about how big time Twitter’s ‘deals’ service would be, you must be feeling satiated now that you know it’s going to house some pretty sweet deals. A two for one movie ticket deal with Walt Disney is a big promotion, and it means that Twitter is going after big brands to bring out its deals, and this really puts it in a sort of competition with GroupOn and Living Social, which we just covered.
According to Twitter, there’s more coming:
We’re just getting started– we’ve got an amazing lineup of deals to share in the coming days and weeks with people following @earlybird. Several times a week, @earlybird will help consumers discover Twitter-exclusive deals in entertainment, fashion, technology, beauty, travel and more. These deals will come directly from our advertising partners and from other companies (including Groupon and Gilt Groupe) that already deliver valuable deals to consumers via Twitter. Following @earlybird is the only way to make sure you don’t miss out.
