Twitter Will Livestream 5 Pregame Shows During the Major League Baseball Playoffs

The social network released hashtag-triggered emojis for all postseason clubs

Twitter is settling in for the 2018 Major League Baseball postseason with five special livestreamed pregame shows, as well as hashtag-triggered emojis for every playoff club.

The schedule for Twitter’s livestreamed pregame shows—which will feature highlights, breakdowns and analysis and be available exclusively via and @MLB—follows (all start times are two hours before that night’s first game):

  • Friday, Oct. 5: National League Divisional Series Preview Show
  • Sunday, Oct. 7: NLDS Preview Show
  • Wednesday, Oct. 17: American League Championship Series Game Four Preview Show
  • Wednesday, Oct. 24: World Series Game Two Preview Show
  • Saturday, Oct. 27: World Series Game Four Preview Show

Tweeting with #Postseason and #WorldSeries will unlock special playoff and Commissioner’s Trophy emojis, respectively, and the special postseason hashtag-triggered emojis by team are:

  • Atlanta Braves: #ChopOn, #ForEachOther
  • Boston Red Sox: #DoDamage, #RedSox
  • Chicago Cubs: #FlyTheW
  • Cleveland Indians: #RallyTogether

Twitter said the three most-mentioned teams during the 2018 MLB season were the Yankees (more than 7 million), Dodgers and Red Sox, and the social network also shared other data from the season.

The most-mentioned players were:

  1. Shohei Ohtani (nearly 2 million since Opening Day)
  2. Bryce Harper
  3. Mike Trout
  4. Aaron Judge
  5. Yu Darvish

The season’s top-tweeted moments were:

  1. Ian Happ hits a leadoff home run on the first pitch of the 2018 season (March 29)
  2. Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea throws a no-hitter against the Red Sox (April 21)
  3. David Bote hits a pinch-hit walk-off grand slam to lift the Cubs over the Washington Nationals (August 12)
  4. Gleyber Torres hits a three-run walk-off home run to lift the Yankees over the Indians (May 6)
  5. Giancarlo Stanton hits a home run in his first at-bat as a Yankee (March 29)

And the most frequently tweeted World Series matchups, based on team names paired with World Series and “prediction” terms, were:
