The chants for “equal pay” that rang out at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in the Lyon suburb of Décines-Charpieu in France after the U.S. Women’s National Team defeated the Netherlands to win FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 caused tweets about “pay” to spike by five times Sunday compared with prior to the match that morning.
Twitter shared a recap of activity on its platform following the 52-match tournament, which kicked off June 7.
