Twitter Users Can Pick a Major League Baseball Player of the Day

Their at-bats will be featured live on the social network

The first pitches of the 2019 Major League Baseball season—on U.S. and Canadian soil, anyway—will be thrown Thursday, and Twitter is ready to take the field.

The social network and the league are kicking off a new initiative this season, enabling fans to choose which player’s at-bats will be featured live on Twitter that day.

Every morning, starting on Opening Day and running throughout the season, @MLB will tweet a reminder for fans to pick that day’s featured hitter.

The league will also produce livestreamed shows on @MLB for events including the London Series (bitter rivals the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will face off in London Stadium June 29 and 30), the Home Run Derby, the All-Star Game, the trade deadline and the postseason.
