Twitter Adds Support For Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu, Now Available In 28 Languages

As we reported in January, Twitter’s Translation Center has been hard at work porting right-to-left languages to the platform, and over on the official blog they’ve now announced that Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu are now available on the network.

This brings the total number of languages supported on Twitter.com to an impressive 28.

Twitter’s Translation Center is a big undertaking, with some 13,000 volunteers around the globe involved in the work, often at personal risk.

Among those who donated their time and translation skills to make right-to-left languages a reality on Twitter: a Saudi blogger, Egyptian college students, a journalist at the BBC, IT professionals in Iran and Pakistan, an Israeli schoolteacher, the co-founders of the grassroots #LetsTweetInArabic campaign, academics specializing in linguistics, and teenagers in Lebanon.
