UK Drunk Drivers to be Named and Shamed on #Twitter

Motorists in the United Kingdom charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be “named and shamed” on Twitter as part of of a Christmas anti drink-driving campaign.

Throughout December police in Sussex and Surrey in the UK will tweet details of offenders, including when and where they were stopped.

Last Christmas more than two thousand people were arrested for drink-driving offences in Sussex. To date, 135 of them have been convicted.

Extra time is being set aside in the Magistrates Court in West Sussex to deal with those being charged from today.
