Twitter Acquires Social Networks Summary Team Summify

Twitter has just acquired Summify, a social media summary tool, and will be bringing the team over to “the flock” to work with Twitter’s growth team.

The Summify service is a natural fit for Twitter. Summify filters through all of the news shared on your social networks, and sends you a daily email digest of the most important content shared among your connections.

And as nice as that sounds, I’ve got some bad news for you: you can’t try Summify. Not now, and not ever. As part of the acquisition, Summify is not accepting any new accounts, and will be ending all of its services within a few weeks.

All five members of the Summify team will be moving over to Twitter. According to a blog post, they will be joining the Twitter Growth team in San Francisco to “continue to explore ways to help people connect and engage with relevant, timely news.”

According to CrunchBase, Summify has received several rounds of seed funding from investors, and officially launched in March 2011.
