The Yahoo-owned company announced the changes yesterday on the company blog, instructing users to download the updated apps and to change their passwords on Tumblr and other accounts that use the same passwords.

What caused the security problem is unclear, but Tumblr told TheNextWeb:

Earlier today, Tumblr was notified of a security vulnerability introduced in our iOS app.
