Trent Reznor Releases Free Album on BitTorrent

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor is making good on his promise to offer free, unprotected music via BitTorrent and other peer-to-peer networking services, AppScout blogger Brian Heater reports.

“Now that we’re no longer constrained by a record label, we’ve decided to personally upload Ghosts I, the first of the four volumes, to various torrent sites,” Reznor said in a statement. “We believe BitTorrent is a revolutionary digital distribution method, and we believe in finding ways to utilize new technologies instead of fighting them.

This follows the widely-publicized debut of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” album on the Internet using a name-your-price scheme. Good luck Trent—here’s hoping that artists like you prove the naysayers wrong.
