Tom Brokaw Awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom

Tom BrokawFormer NBC Nightly News veteran Tom Brokaw has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The award is America’s highest civilian honor.

According to the White House, the Medal of Freedom is given to those that have made “meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

The White House heaped praise on Brokaw, declaring that he is one of America’s “most trusted and respected journalists.”

Brokaw and 18 others will receive their medals in a ceremony on November 24.
