image Angry Birds was the most popular iPhone game in 2010 by a long distance. The game topped almost all of the mobile app store charts and held the top spot for quite a while.

However, it seems that things are about to change. Tiny Wings, a new casual bird flinger game developed and published by Andreas Illinger – has hit the top spot of App Store’s top ten chart by downloads in UK, and is at the second spot on the top ten chart by revenues. On both the charts, Tiny Wings is ahead of Angry Birds, a feat that was achieved in merely 6 days after the release of the game on the App Store.

The game is also getting an insane amount of buzz on Twitter, where people have already started calling it ‘the next big thing’ and ‘the next Angry Birds’. The game has a rating of 4.5 from around 15,000 reviews.

Tiny Wings story line states:

“You have always dreamed of flying – but your wings are tiny. Luckily the world is full of beautiful hills. Use the hills as jumps – slide down, flap your wings and fly! At least for a moment – until this annoying gravity brings you back down to earth. But the next hill is waiting for you already. Watch out for the night and fly as fast as you can. Otherwise flying will only be a dream once again.”
