Time.com Adds Photo Editor

Time has named Mikko Takkunen an associate photo editor for Time.com. Takkunen is a freelance photographer whose work has appeared in publications such as The Financial Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and more.

In a memo announcing the addition, Kira Pollack, director of Photography for Time, said of Takkunen, “His passion for photography and news will be a phenomenal addition to our staff.”

Takkunen starts at Time.com January 22. He will initially be based in London, then make his way to New York.

We are delighted to announce that Mikko Takkunen will be joining the staff as an associate photo editor on TIME.com based in London. Mikko is a freelance photographer whose clients include The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and M – le magazin du Monde.  He is also the founder of the smart and thoughtful website Photojournalism Links, where he curates the best photojournalism being produced across the world.  As you can see on Photojournalism Links, he has an exceptional eye, a strong editorial vision and a keen understanding of social media. Mikko received a BA in photojournalism at Swansea Metropolitan University, UK in 2009 and an MA in Politics and International Relations at Aberdeen University in 2006.  His passion for photography and news will be a phenomenal addition to our staff. Please join Cathy Sharick, Jonathan Woods and me in welcoming Mikko. He will start on Monday, January 22 in our London office and will be eventually based in New York.
