Three Years Later, Jayson Blair Still Contends He Was ‘F*cked Over’

It’s been three years since the scandal that rocked the New York Times that can be referred to simply as Jayson Blair. The Independent spent some time reflecting with Blair at his home in Centreville, Virginia.

Blair’s funk does not last long. He is soon joshing with the photographer and pulling poses for him (“Looking out the window? I know that shot,” he says with a giggle), but his emotional outpouring has set the tone for the day. He will talk about “the scandal”, or “God”, or “being f*cked over” as much as he will talk about his lying and deception in the events of 2003. He can condemn the fault, but not himself.
