First there was BuzzFeed. Then came the “Why I Left BuzzFeed” YouTube videos, followed by Todd Spangler’s piece about the phenomenon in Variety, followed by a “entitled millennials” condemnation in the Observer. Then came the parodies. Ok, the parodies already existed, as Spangler noted, but this fresh one from Megan MacKay is a perfect execution of the form, from copy to delivery.
Sample lines: “They would look at me and say, ‘but it’s haunted here,’ like that was some sort of mandatory thing you had to have to work at BuzzFeed is an office ghost.”
