These Are the Polls That Will Determine Who Makes It Into the Presidential Debates
The CPD announces its five.
The question of whether Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein or Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson will make it to the presidential debate podium depends on their performance in five specific polls, announced today by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Those polls, selected with the help of Gallup editor in chief Frank Newport, are:
- ABC News/Washington Post
- CBS News/New York Times
- CNN/Opinion Research Corporation
- Fox News
- NBC News/Wall Street Journal
The CPD will average the results of those orgs’ most recent polls when the commission makes its decision sometime in the middle of September for the first debate, with 15 percent support as the threshold.
