The Revolving Door, 06.05.06

Three notable moves and shakes:

  • Egads! Is Tammy Haddad going to leave Hardball to head to GMA?!?

  • The Legal Times named Alison Bethel as executive editor. “In her new position, Bethel will oversee coverage of the legal business, lobbying, and Capitol Hill. She will also play a key role in expanding daily news content delivery on the paper’s Web site, www.legaltimes.com. Bethel will report to James Oliphant, editor in chief.” Bethel is leaving the Detroit News as their Washington bureau chief (she’s been there since 2001), and her career has included stints at The Boston Globe, States-Times in Baton Rouge, La., the Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y., and The Poughkeepsie Journal.

  • The Washington Post has an opening…

    in Baghdad.

Jon Finer packs up his reporter’s notebooks this summer to return to the U.S. and they’re looking for his successor. “It is an extraordinarily demanding assignment, one that tests reporting and writing skills, stamina, judgment and commitment. The work involves long days, reporting on topics that are opaque, and working in a hazardous environment.”

And that’s on the good days.
