The New York Times To Include E-Book Best-Seller Rankings

According to New York Times reporter Julie Bosman, the Times will begin to publish lists of top selling e-books in early 2011.  The newspaper has printed best-seller lists since 1935 and now will acknowledge the rise of digital content with weekly rankings.  NYT‘s editor of news surveys and election analysis Jane Elder says this addition to the Times has been a long time coming:

“We’ve had our eye on e-book sales since e-books began.  It was clear that e-books were taking a greater and greater share of total sales, and we wanted to be able to tell our readers which titles were selling and how they fit together with print sales.”
