The Many Newspapers of New York

We had no idea, but apparently this is National Newspaper Week. Hey, at least we figured it out before it was over. The New York Times did it right, and celebrated the week by posting photos of eight newspapers that were once part of our city’s daily life.

What were the newspapers of the past? There was the Daily Mirror, The New York Journal, The Evening Telegram, The Commercial Advertiser, The Graphic and much more. In 1900, there were 15 daily newspapers published in New York City; in 1940, there were still 10 being printed.
