The .Jobs Problem

A few weeks ago, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) ruled that the .jobs domain would be opened up to generic domains.

Previously, only company-specific domains, like Google.jobs or Disney.jobs, were allowed. But next month, thanks to the ICANN ruling, generic names like Virginia.jobs or journalism.jobs will be available.

But, the WSJ reports, the mostly-small businesses that run niche boards are feeling threatened.
