Elections in the European Union kept Twitter humming last week.
Director of public policy for Europe Karen White said in a blog post that there were 2.1 million EU-election-related tweets from last Thursday through Sunday, when voters in 28 member nations went to the polls, with popular hashtags including #EP2019, #EUelections2019 and #ThisTimeImVoting.
The first two on that list spurred special hashtag-triggered emojis across all official EU languages.
There were 6.2 million election-related tweets since the start of the campaign in February, up 273% from the previous EU elections.
