'The Daily' Lays Off One-Third of Staff
News Corp’s digital newspaper, The Daily, has met a not-so-sunny disposition. That is, 50 of its 170 employees will be let go as reported by All Things D.
This marks the 18-month point after the tablet newspaper initially launched.
As for people who will be impacted the most? Apparently it’s staffers who work on the editorial page and sports section. Pink slips will also be given to people who work on other parts of The Daily — this includes design and production employees.
Sports coverage will be provided by content partners and the Opinion section will be defunct.
