Temple Run, Temple Run 2 cross one billion downloads

To say the Temple Run series has produced some successful games would be an understatement, as Temple Run and Temple Run 2 have together crossed the milestone of one billion downloads (yes, with a ‘b’). This figure doesn’t include stats from the Brave or Oz versions of Temple Run, which were developed in partnership with Disney Mobile.

Created by a husband-and-wife team, developer Imangi Studios has released some staggering gameplay facts to celebrate the download milestone, including the fact that players have collectively spent over 216,018 years playing Temple Run.

Of those one billion downloads, 60 percent of the game’s players have been female, while 40 percent are male. Players have raced through temples and jungles for a combined total of 50 trillion total meters run, which is enough to run from Earth to the Sun and back 160 times!

Over 147 trillion gold coins have been collected in 32 billion game instances, with the most common ways to die being falling, collision with an obstacle, or the series’ infamous monkeys.

“Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games.”
