Connecticut Alderwoman Competes on Telemundo Dating Show

Arriving today in Los Angeles, New Haven, Connecticut Ward 16 Alderwoman Migdalia Castro (pictured) is not here to glean municipal know-how or raise funds. Rather, she is in town to tape an appearance on 12 Corazones, a popular Telemundo dating show.

Castro went through a rigorous audition process to become the “Taurus” contestant on the program, which features a total of four men and eight women, each representing a different Zodiac sign. Her episode is slated to air in April and definitely blindsided political colleagues. Per the Yale Daily News:

Ward 15 Alderman Joseph Rodriguez, who most recently canvassed with Castro for a Grand Avenue project, said that he was surprised when she informed him of her television appearance after a community meeting two weeks ago. “I didn’t hear her going through all the stages of applying; no one knew she actually applied,” he said.

The Puerto Rican descended Castro and other contestants will be put through a variety of “awkward” romantic situations, with the studio audience gradually voting off participants. Sounds a lot like politics.
