Tales of the Tribune Co.: No More Pencils, No More Books

hamann-lamborghini-gallardo.jpgThings are not looking up for Chicago Tribune employees. In an effort to pay down its $13 million dollar debt Gerald Spector, the company’s chief administration office issued a memo to staff saying that the company needed to trim its $3.5 million annual shopping bill at OfficeMax and requesting that employees “reduce their supply purchases and to economize on travel.”

To add insult to injury, Spector apparently arrives at work every day in a 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. Says Spector: “As you can see with office supplies, small amounts quickly add up and make a difference.” Yep, it’s always the little things.
