T-Mobile Text Messaging Tax

Companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Google provide ways to interact with their web services via text messaging. Banks send alerts via text message when account balances are low and money has been deposited to your account. Today T-Mobile announced that they are planning on charging an additional amount to businesses that send text messages like the ones I list above over their network.

Most companies do not charge you for receiving text messages from them, but that might change if all of the mobile phone companies follow T-Mobile’s lead.
