Syriana meets censor's scissors

The BBC reports today that Syriana debuted in the United Arab Emirates, minus , of course, scenes deleted by government censors:

“We would never allow anything that is disrespectful to the country or the president, causes security problems, insults religions, exhibits immorality like nudity or promotes vices like alcohol and drugs,” said Aleem Jumaa of the Dubai censorship office.

And forget “Brokeback Mountain” – its distributor says it will not even attempt to clear it with censors.
