Supercell Launches Clash Royale on iOS, Android

The multiplayer strategy game challenges players to defeat their enemies in one-on-one real-time battles.

Clash of Clans developer Supercell has officially launched its latest game, Clash Royale, on iOS and Android worldwide. The multiplayer strategy game challenges players to defeat their enemies in one-on-one real-time battles.

In each battle of Clash Royale, players work to destroy their opponent’s towers, while also protecting their own towers. Both sides have two guard towers, as well as one main tower, and if the main tower is destroyed, the entire battle ends, even if one or both guard towers remain.

To attack, players spend elixir points to deploy troop cards onto the battlefield, or trigger attacks like fireballs and arrows. Once deployed, troops will advance automatically into enemy territory and attack either enemy troops or the towers. Elixir points recharge automatically over time, and different units require different amounts of elixir to deploy. Battles are timed, and the elixir recharge rate doubles when only 60 seconds remain.

As players are victorious in battle, they receive mystery chests of varying qualities, which contain coins, as well as additional cards for their deck. As players collect enough duplicate cards for a specific troop or attack, they can spend coins to upgrade the card, increasing its stats.

Players can hold up to four chests in their inventory at a single time. Chests take time to unlock, and players can only have one unlock timer active at a time. Players can spend Gems, the game’s premium currency, to speed up a chest’s unlock timer and receive their prizes faster. Users can also purchase individual cards in the game’s store.

As gamers progress, they’ll eventually unlock access to multiplayer clans. By joining a clan, players can chat with others, compete in friendly matches against other users in the clan and donate cards to others.

In between battles, players can watch replays of their own matches, or visit the TV Royale menu to watch replays of other players’ games.

Clash Royale is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The game is currently the No. 1 free iPhone app in the U.S.
