Study: App Downloads Will Spike to 48 billion by 2015

Downloads of mobile apps are expected to skyrocket with more apps hitting the market every day. According to In-Stat, a research firm, the total number of mobile-application downloads is expected to reach nearly 48 billion by 2015. The growing popularity of touchscreen-based smartphones will be the main factor driving the growth in app downloads. By the end of this year approximately 90% of the smartphones will provide touch screens and the number is expected to hit 100% by the end of 2012, according to In-Stat.

The popularity of smart phones and mobile apps are bundled together and with the availability of interesting apps the desire for smartphones is also increasing.
