Still So Much More Work to Be Done

The last thing we want to do is bum you out on a beautiful Friday afternoon, but amongst all the talk about a Chocolate City and the revitalized Jazz Fest, there’s still quite a mess to be seen across most of New Orleans. Our photo-friend Michael Weschler usually points his lens at lush interiors, but in this gallery shot last week, he’s captured the moldy, splintered reality of the Lower Ninth Ward’s structures (and survivors).

The scariest part? Hurricane season begins June 1.
