Stick and Stones and Photoshop: Fox vs. NYT

s-STEINBERG-large.jpgApparently it’s bad for your looks to write negative things about Fox News. Last week the NYT published a “straight news” story that discussed some “ominous trends” in cable news suggesting that, despite coming out on top in the ratings for the last quarter, Fox may be losing ground to CNN and MSNBC in the long term.

Yesterday morning the hosts of Fox & Friends in the process of talking about this story aired photos that MediaMatters says have been doctored to show the Times reporters in an unflattering light: “The journalists’ teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe’s hair moved further back on his head. Fox News gave no indication that the photos had been altered.” A Times spokesman says they have no intention of responding to this, “it is fighting with a pig, everyone gets dirty and the pig likes it”. Fox has had nothing to say at all. And yes, we’re also shocked! shocked!
