Stern Measures Still On

This week’s announcement that Jared Paul Stern‘s gossip business tell-all was being shuttered, came as a surprise. The book, which was sold to Simon and Schuster division Touchstone Fireside, was supposed to have been published this fall. Touchstone EVP and Publisher Mark Gompertz told Gawker on Tuesday: “These things happen. He got busy with a lot of things, and so much time has elapsed since the events [that got him fired]. It was through no fault of anyone.”

Stern agrees with Gompertz’s account, but adds in an email to FishbowlNY: “It was amicable, though there were some aesthetic differences; I suppose one should expect as much from a purveyor of works by Paris Hilton and Bonnie Fuller.”

“It’s not that I decided not to go ahead with the book,” Stern continues, “expect an announcement about a new publisher in the near future. In the meantime I’ve been working on a couple other book projects and some freelance writing, as well as my clothing company, Skull & Bones.”
