State Farm Insurance swears by the motto, “When the unexpected happens, State Farm has you covered,” and they’re giving you a taste of “the unexpected” in a crazy new interactive video campaign in which they blow up your house.

State Farm’s ‘Chaos In Your Town’ campaign invites you to create your own personalized blockbuster film, starring your house and the surrounding neighborhood.  Head over to ChaosInYourTown.com and enter your last name and street address to unleash the chaos!  Through Google Street View, you experience a pretty realistic scene of a giant robot busting up your neighborhood and blowing up your house.  I hope you’ve got insurance!

The interactive video campaign is based off State Farm’s ‘State Of Chaos’ commercial campaign, which you can check out below.  State Farm social media marketing manager Brent Bynum told ClickZ, “We were getting a lot of traction with our ‘State Of Chaos’ commercial and wanted to extend that by letting people get involved in a fun way in a different medium.”

You may remember the Arcade Fire HTML5 campaign, Wilderness Downtown, which went live back in August of 2010, letting you take a trip down memory lane by featuring your childhood home.  This is kind of like that, only a lot more disturbing and action-packed.  Rhys Miles Thomas, who I found out about this campaign from when he posted it on Twitter, described ‘Chaos In Your Town’ as what you would get “if Michael Bay directed Wilderness Downtown.”  I couldn’t have put it better myself.

Check out the campaign at ChaosInYourTown.com and let us know what you think of it.  Does it make you want to run out and get homeowners insurance?
