Starbucks To Accept Square App Payments & To Add Digital Tipping Next Year
Starbucks and mobile payments company Square will allow coffee customers to pay with their Square Wallet app beginning next month. In addition, Starbucks will enable digital tipping on its existing mobile payment apps, as well as on Square Wallet in U.S. stores in summer 2013.
The new features are just the next step in Starbucks’ and Square’s partnership in mobile payments. This past August, Starbucks and Square announced plans to process credit and debit card transactions. Starbucks first launched a Square-powered mobile payment app in 2011.
