Staples Chief Hints At New Amazon Tablets

Demos Parneros, president of U.S. Retail for Staples, has indicated that Amazon has plans to release five or six new tablet devices. How does he know? Well, Staples sells the Kindle Fire tablet and Kindle eReaders, and would likely sell any future Kindle devices.

Reuters has the story: “The tablets will be different sizes, including a 10-inch model, Parneros said. Amazon spokespeople declined to comment on the company’s plans.”

Earlier this month, Boy Genuis Report reported a rumor that Amazon has two new Kindle Fire tablets in the works, a 7-inch tablet and a 10-inch tablet called “Coyote”. The rumors come as the tablet market is heating up. Google recently began shipping its new Nexus 7 tablet, and the 16GB version is already sold out. There are also rumors circulating that Apple will be releasing a smaller and cheaper iPad, which will compete directly with the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire.
