St. Louis Post-Dispatch Guild Offers New Proposal

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Newspaper Guild, which has been working on a new contract for its members since June 2009, presented a new cost-saving plan to the newspaper yesterday that would have saved the company $8 to $12 million through unpaid furlough days, the guild says. However, according to the guild, the company wasn’t happy:

The company characterized our proposal as “disappointing” and “unrealistic.” They focused much of their derision on the fact that there were no actual wage cuts in our offer, which makes us wonder if their goal is to get savings or something else.
