Sprint and Google Team Up on Mobile

Looks like Google is wasting no time extending its recent cellular network plans.

Reuters is reporting that Sprint said today it would develop with Google a new mobile Internet portal to offer Web search and social networking.

Sprint’s new WiMax high-speed wireless network and “location detection” will be combined with Google tools including e-mail, chat and other applications, according to the report. The service will go live as a test in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington by the end of 2007, with plans to cover 100 million people in the US by the end of 2008.
