SPJ Imagines A City Without A Newspaper

The Los Angeles Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists is hosting a panel discussion next Wednesday entitled “Imagine a City Without a Newspaper”. LA County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and Geneva Overholser, the director of USC Annenberg School of Journalism, will be panelists. The event will be at the Metropolitan Water District headquarters on Feb. 18, 6:30 p.m. From the SPJ website:

Budget cuts, massive layoffs and looming bankruptcy in tough economic times could lead to the disappearance of our local newspapers. Veteran KTTV FOX 11 TV reporter John Schwada will moderate a panel of civic leaders to explore the real possibility that the country’s second-largest city will be left without a daily newspaper.
