  • Toy manufacturer Funrise, Inc. signed LA’s JMPR as AOR for TONKA® branded products under license from Hasbro®. JMPR will work with Funrise’s internal team while focusing on media relations, new product launches, special events, and relationships with various partners. (They were not involved in promoting the life-sized Tonka truck created in partnership with Ford and pictured above, but it is awesome.)
  • SpecOps Communications of New York signed two new clients: Manhattan’s The Grilled Cheese Truck and SecureAuth, a provider of identity and information security solutions. As the former client notes, “simple pleasures are the best.” (InfoSecTaylorSwift may or may not approve.)
  • Ketchum Sports and Entertainment won the LA Marathon account after a competitive pitch. Ketchum S&E will create a media campaign to support the event, which will include the 2015 USA Track & Field Marathon Championships. May we suggest a collaboration with MWW and the Gay Men’s Chorus of LA?
  • Boston’s Hollywood PR signed two new clients: Ovuline, which makes apps to help would-be parents “conceive faster and have healthier pregnancies,” and JMATEK, maker of portable air conditioners, evaporative air coolers and dehumidifiers (but NOT vaporizers).
  • Taylor, which recently lost the Taco Bell account to Edelman, signed with Mercedes as its first sports specialty firm. It will handle media relations while reminding everyone that Mercedes executives love sports. (PR Week)
  • Havas Formula will be PR AOR for “generic brand consumer electronics” e-commerce site Monoprice.
  • Stuart Weitzman, maker of the planet’s most impractical boots, signed fashion-forward firm Karla Otto to handle its digital presence.
  • Salesforce, whose US “marketing cloud” PR operations are currently directed by the co-founder of a certain industry blog, went with BlueCurrent for its UK comms duties. BlueCurrent, a division of FleishmanHillard, already represented the client in the EMEA region. (Holmes Report)
