Southern Living Associate Publisher Jumps To Cooking Light

Karla Partilla, the associate publisher at Southern Living, is making the move over to the same position at Cooking Light, the Time Inc. title announced today.

Replacing Partilla at Southern Living will be Debbie O’Brien, who received a promotion from New York manager at the magazine.

Before joining Southern Living in 2004, Partilla (pictured) worked at Meredith Corp. at titles such as Country Home and Ladies’ Home Journal. O’Brien also joined Southern Living in 2004, and had previously worked at advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi.

New York, NY (January 26, 2010) — Karla Partilla was named Associate Publisher of Cooking Light and Debbie O’Brien was promoted to Associate Publisher of Southern Living, it was announced today by Greg Keyes, Senior Vice President, Group Publisher of the Time Inc. Lifestyle Group.

In her new role at Cooking Light, Partilla will be responsible for advertising sales and will report to Vice President, Publisher Stephen Bohlinger. Cooking Light, the nation’s number one epicurean brand with the largest audience, most epicurean editorial and the most recipes, was redesigned in September 2009. It holds the number one position in share of market in the epicurean category.

Until today Partilla, 40, was Associate Publisher of Southern Living, a position she has held since January 2004. During that time, Southern Living grew to become the fifth largest consumer monthly magazine and this past fall it also underwent a well-received redesign.

Prior to Southern Living, Partilla spent 10 years at the Meredith Corporation, working on titles including Country Home and Ladies Home Journal.

O’Brien, 38, was promoted to Associate Publisher of Southern Living from New York Manager, a position she held since October 2004. She will be responsible for advertising sales and will report to Vice President, Publisher Rich Smyth.

She joined Southern Living nearly 12 years ago from Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising where she held various roles in media working on accounts such as Johnson & Johnson and General Mills.
