Some Local Newspaper Changes

American Community Newspapers, a group of 73 publications, including more than half a dozen in Northern Virginia, has agreed to be sold to Courtside Acquisition.

New York-based Courtside was formed in March 2005 to buy companies in the entertainment, media and communications industries.

It will acquire most of the assets of Eden Prairie, Minn.-based American Community Newspapers, a privately held company, for $165 million. Courtside will also pay up to an additional $15 million in cash if newspaper cash flow for 2008 ranges from $19 million to $21 million or greater.
