Facebook Acquires Storytelling Social Network Storylane (AllFacebook) In what some people are calling a challenge to blogging site Tumblr, Facebook has acquired storytelling social network Storylane. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. YouTube Co-Founder to Launch Rival Video Site (Gizmodo) YouTube already has its fair share of rivals on all sides, from Vimeo to Hulu. Now, though, one of YouTube's co-founders, Chris Hurley, is planning to create a rival of his own. Twitter Opens Tweet Archive Access for Users in 12 More Languages (TechCrunch) Twitter has announced that it would be ramping up its archiving tool to cover people who use the service in 12 non-English languages: Dutch, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Malay, Norwegian, Polish and Spanish — giving the company one more way of engaging with its international audience, now 70 percent of its 200 million-monthly user base. The ability to access your own archive of tweets — which lets you see everything you tweeted and retweeted, and lets you retweet those tweets yet again — was first launched last year, in December, as a service only for those using Twitter in English. Can Facebook Put Video Ads in News Feed Without Angering Users? (Mashable) Facebook video ads are coming to your News Feed — it's just a matter of when. AdAge reported in mid-December that Facebook was planning to introduce a new ad product "by April at the latest" that would let marketers target video ads in users' News Feeds on desktop and mobile devices.
