Facebook Experimenting with a ‘Sympathize’ Button (TIME)
Facebook is considering adding a less cheery alternative to its “like” button: a “sympathize” button. The social network has been toying with this option, which was devised at a Facebook hackathon, a Facebook engineer said Thursday, according to The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post Facebook’s members have for years demanded a less cheery way to quickly respond to friends’ posts, pointing out that “liking” becomes awkward and inappropriate when someone posts about a breakup, a death or even just a bad day.
