More than half of recruiters have reconsidered a candidate based on something that they found in their social media profiles.

Did you know that 52 percent of recruiters say that they always search for a candidate’s online profiles during the hiring process?

More than half (55 percent) have reconsidered a candidate based on something that they found on a social media site, with six in ten of those reconsiderations being negative.

LinkedIn is the platform of choice for social checks, favoured by 92 percent of recruiters, ahead of Facebook (66 percent) and Twitter (55 percent).

Illegal drug references, sexual posts, profanity and bad spelling/grammar are the biggest red flags for potential employers.
