So, You Want To Live Underground? Now You CAN!

Every so often it occurs to us that if we just lived underground, things might go a lot better. Life gets messy when you start interacting with others, breaking codes you didn’t know existed, and breathing maple syrup-scented air. So when we came across this glorified listing-as-article for the UK’s cold war bunker for sale for 5 million pounds, we started to get a couple ideas. From the Sunday Times (via ArchNewsNow),

It covers 240 acres and has 60 miles of roads and its own railway station. It even includes a pub called the Rose and Crown.

The most underpopulated town in Britain is being put on the market. But there will be no estate agent’s blurb extolling the marvellous views of the town for sale: true, it has a Wiltshire address, but it is 120ft underground.

We’d be cobbling together the pennies Corporate throws our way every so often, but there’s some sort of catch that involves investing in military space, which we, being Quaker-raised pacifists, just can’t condone.

The plans to turn it into the world’s largest wine cellar, on the other hand… Yeah. We can work with that.
